A car enthusiast wanted the very best when his Lamborghini needed a service so he had it flown all the way to London. Specialist mechanics checked the oil on the Murciélago LP640 (the same model driven by Batman in The Dark Knight film) before sending it back to Qatar on Monday. The cost is estimated at £23,500, including £3,552 for the service. A spokesman for Lamborghini UK said: “This sort of thing is not unheard of.”

I think it’s great that these people spend money on frivolous things.

Think about it. If this sheikh spends his money on things that do not make him more wealthy, that puts money in the hands of Lamborghini and its workers and suppliers. It does not increase the power and influence of this man as much as if he had invested the same amount of money in a business venture with an actual return on investment.

Now, it may be a drop in the bucket relative to his wealth, but I don’t see much of a problem with legitimate ways to separate the frivolous from their money. You can’t buy intelligence with money, but you can show stupidity and idiotness with it, sigh.
